Lamentations 3:22-23 “It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (KJV) |
Mercy Definition: compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. ----- “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” |
Are you thankful for God’s New Mercies upon your life?
Situation: In Lamentations we find that the prophet Jeremiah is weeping and grieving the destruction of Jerusalem. It grieved him to see what became of the city knowing that it could have been avoided. How many times did God send a warning and the people did not hear? But Jeremiah remembered God’s promises regarding His people and he began to declare, “Great is God’s Faithfulness”.
Observation: Just like the people who lived in Jerusalem, we here in the US and around the World have been given a warning to turn back to God, to repent and give our heart to God, to surrender to God’s will and His way. But just like the people in Jerusalem, we have not listened. On a personal note, are you following God’s word and His plan for your life?
Inspiration: God is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins, we just need to turn back to Him. Jeremiah declared that it was because of God’s mercies that we were not consumed. God could have wiped us out a long time ago, but He chose to forgive and have mercy on us even when we did not deserve it.
Application: Take the time read the entire 3rd chapter of Lamentations. Then evaluate your own life to make sure you are following God’s word and His Plan for your life. Remember God’s mercies are new every morning, so what you did yesterday is your past. Ask God to forgive you and study the exploration scriptures below. Find a good Bible Study to attend outside of work and learn of God’s word. And you will be able to declare like Jeremiah, “Great is God’s Faithfulness”.
